Description
This is the infamous Dick Dastardly, star of many Hanna Barbera cartoons back in the day. He was usually accompanied by his sidekick Muttley. He stands 13cm tall- that's about 5 1/4 inches to all us Americans- and is sculpted out of two part epoxy.
He was done as a test sculpt for Little Wonder Studios to see if I could sculpt to specs. They provided me with a turnaround illustration and I had to match it as exactly as possible. Little Wonder is known for doing licensed likenesses of different cultural icons, so they were being very picky!
While my desire to work at Little Wonder declined when my wife and I decided that moving to Hollywood wasn't for us I still worked on the model. This was an opportunity to learn and have my work expertly critiqued to the last detail- how could I pass that up? This was also a rare chance to actually break out my dividers so I could precisely measure parts of the work in progress and compare it to the illustration. So a big thank you for that chance.
